community manager to join our team to drive the next stage of
expansion for CelerData's rapidly growing StarRocks open source
project. CelerData's community manager will own the community
experience for StarRocks users, and help CelerData's marketing,
sales, and engineering teams craft compelling content and
activities that will make StarRocks a leading project when it comes
to providing a user-focused experience.Key ResponsibilitiesAs
Community Manager for CelerData, you'll work closely with every
part of CelerData's business and its StarRocks open source
community to develop and execute a plan to grow membership,
increase engagement, and foster a supportive and exciting community
experience. Your responsibilities include:
- Events Expert - You'll take the lead when it comes to planning
events and bringing people and partners in the StarRocks community
together. Working with our developer advocate and marketing team,
you'll operate as the primary point person for in-person and online
meetups.
- Community Organizer - Growing our open source community is a
top priority and you'll own the process. From identifying external
communities we can partner with for growth to connecting with
current members to brainstorm activities to drive member
engagement, you'll serve as our expert for understanding how we can
build a large and sustainable community.
- Bridge Builder - With the help of CelerData's technical
experts, you'll play a key role in networking with managers and
members of other relevant communities and creating introductions
for our developer advocate and product team to use to start
building bridges into those communities.
- Developing a Healthy Open Source to Commercial Pipeline -
You'll collaborate closely with CelerData's sales team to help
identify commercial opportunities among our open source users while
ensuring we maintain our commitment to maintaining a healthy open
source community centered on supporting StarRocks and not just
farming users for sales.Qualifications
- An Inclusive Mindset: You understand the value of creating an
inviting and supporting community environment and know how to
communicate with users in a way that helps them feel supported,
appreciated, and keeps them engaged with StarRocks for the long
term.
- A Track Record of Growth: Growing and managing a community of
thousands is right in your wheelhouse. You know what it takes to
build and execute a community-building strategy.
- An Affinity for Open Source: You appreciate the unique aspects
of working with a technical open source community and can predict
the needs and concerns of users operating in this space.
- Logistics Expertise: It doesn't matter if it's a massive summit
or an intimate meetup or webinar, you're experienced and
comfortable coordinating internal talent and resources, along with
partners and the community, to come together to exchange
ideas.
- Experience: 2+ years in a community manager role, ideally
working with communities related to data analytics, database, or
cloud infrastructure.
- Bonus Points:
- Familiarity working with Slack-based communities.
- Experience using tools like Common Room.
- Event management or event marketing experience.
